2 out of 5 stars Junk but at least they are inexpensive   November 26, 2008
Pros: They do hold the speakers off the floor and the materials feel robust to some degree.

Cons: Well, despite the reviews noting how easy it is to split the particle board pieces, I took a chance, given that these are so inexpensive. I was very cautious when putting them together, but I still split the wood in 4 places. I think the holes are not machined precisely enough--and the vertical pieces are just too thin for the size screws provided. However, the splits are not obvious from a distance (well, one was, but I took the screw out and didn't bother with it).

The included rubber standoffs are a joke, you'll want to bring your own.

No protection is provided for hardwood floors.

As other reviews have noted, the wire management is a total joke given that the wires are visible from the front because of the gap between the two pieces.

Having said that, they probably look pricier than what I paid, and they do hold the speakers up off the floor. It was quicker to assemble than building and painting stands from scrap lumber would have been, but definitely not as sturdy or as nice as 2 hours of time in the garage with some 1x3s would have yielded.

As long as you know you're buying a piece of junk, it's an ok buy.

2 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for   September 5, 2008
You get what you pay for. When you pay less than $40 for speaker stands you aren't going to get things like good materials or even reliable product descriptions.

These things are made of something. Certainly not wood.

It is *very* easy to split the material when you are putting it together if you are not careful.

They are not 16" tall. As another reviewer also noted. They are at least an inch shorter than that. Keep that in mind as well.

The "wire management" is a joke. There is a hole in the bottom of the base but then there is no groove to route the wire once it gets out so the base ends up on top of it. Very poor design.

So it loses a star for the material, the lie on the height and the wire management issue.

It gets a star for holding up the speakers and another for being cheap and easy to put together.

Any way you slice it. Two Stars.

I got these to hold up my mids in a 7.1 system. For that they are fine.

4 out of 5 stars Good for the price   August 22, 2008

This is a good value for the money (with the current discount at 22$). The plastic cover that hides the cable is too short and does not hide the cable all the way, not a big deal but not perfect. Quality matches the price but they look nice.

2 out of 5 stars Stands are not 16"   August 6, 2008

Buyers beware. I have a pair of Sanus 31" speakers stands and wanted to reduce the height of the speakers. I got the "16" inch stands and put them together. Sanus is not a poor stand, but not one of the best. When I got the stands assembled I realized that they were not 16" high. When I measured them they stand just under 14 3/4" from the bottom of the base to the top of the top platform. I know Amazon is good about returns, however taking them apart and going through the issues involved in returning them is not worth it. So, I'll live with these, even though they are not the advertised dimensions.

4 out of 5 stars Nice Stands   April 15, 2008

Look good - quality manufacturing, finish is nice. Improved my speakers' sound, perfect height for my use. Only reason I didn't give these 5 stars is because of the small peel-n-stick corner pads that were slightly difficult for me to peel off, and not as big as I'd like. Also the floor spikes were a bit hard to insert, had to be careful (I got them to work fine, though). Other than that, it's a great buy.
