 what a rip off January 9, 2009
I would not give this junk 1/2 star I have had it for two months and it has been OFF LINE(ZOOMBAC) two times for more than a day at a time. SO lets not want to LOCATE something or SOMEONE LOST .It is NO GOOD.they told me( no Refund on the unit.)Zoombak ZMBK346 Advanced GPS Universal Locator
"bait and switch" on there advertised yearly service pricing January 3, 2009
Good pricing and looks like a good product. Reviewed their three pricing option for their service plan on the Zoombak web site. Wrote down the pricing and then went to activate the unit. During this process I see they have a higher pricing for the service plans. Called them and told them I wanted the pricing they advertised on the web site. They would not honor that pricing and said this was "new pricing". I asked to speak to a supervisor - none available but stated supervisor would call me back in 1 hour. No call back after 7 hours. Packed up unit and returned to Amazon. LOOKS LIKE "BAIT AND SWITCH" ON THEIR PRICING TO ME.

Rip off Rip off Rip off. Read the 1 star reviews -- All too true. DO NOT BUY THIS. If you get it to activate make sure you tape it to your hat and do not go in any buildings or even walk in a park with a lot of trees. This is probably the device the US is using to find Bin Laden! The only reason this got one star is because you cannot submit less than one star.
Zoombak GPS from Amazon have problems December 30, 2008
I purchased a Zoombak GPS dog locator from EBAY and it works wonderfully. Since we own multiple dogs we decided to order the next one from Amazon since the price was lower. The first one from Amazon didn't work properly, sometimes it would locate my dog and sometimes it wouldn't, so I asked for a replacement. The second one is not working at all. The Zoombak help desk tells me that it's because these devices are old. If the device is not activated within 6 months it may not work. I don't know if that is an excuse or not but I'm now asking Amazon for a refund.
Operates OK, but not as expected December 28, 2008
I recently purchased three of these units and am dissapointed their performance. The safe zone notifications are random at best. Some times
I get them, sometimes they never show up. And, when they do finally show up, they say the unit just entered/left the safe zone right then.
Battery life is irratic. Granted, it is early winter, but these units go dead in 1-1/2 days sometimes. The low battery texts are unpredictable as well. Defintely recommend the hardwired option in cars instead of relying on battery life.
The web site is way too slow. The servers/software really need an update.
The GPS signal seems to be very weak. ANY obstruction and the locator may or may not be able to connect.
A log of past locations would be nice. You can't print or log anything on the site.
I had problems with the units not charging correctly and not syncing up right at the beginning as well. But, now they seem to operate OK. Nothing to get excited about. Just OK.
I wouldn't use these for anything really important. They just don't work as well as they should.
