Amazon.com Product Review Chipping and shredding has never been easier thanks to the three-way feed on this Yard Machine chipper. Limbs and organic yard debris feed into the unit three different ways: via a dedicated chipper chute, a drop-down, rake-in chute, or through the drop-in hopper. The machine easily bags leaves and garden clippings at a 10:1 reduction ration, reducing ten bags of whole leaves, for example, to fit into just one bag. A nylon and mesh 2-1/2-bushel bag quickly and easily attaches to the unit for convenient capture and disposal of chips and other waste. A 14 amp engine offers plenty of power to take on large, lengthy operations. Equipped with 10- by 2-3/4-inch wheels, the shredder transports over rough terrain and through thick under-story to chip limps up to 1-1/2 inches in diameter. A durable, light plastic housing and steel chipper blade ensure optimal chipping power and easy transport. The purchase includes a rounded discharge chute and is covered by a two-year warranty. Sold separately, an optional tow hitch hooks up to lawn tractors for powered transport to work areas. --Brian D. Olson

Clogs September 30, 2008 Do not try to run any material through this that is green. In no time you will learn how to take it apart and clean it. I'm drying current pruning in a trash can before I try to shred it.
Wood Chipper September 25, 2008 Product arrived ahead of schedule. All parts in box. Easy to understand instructions and easy assembly. Chips wood like crazy, just feed large materal in slowly. If wood chips stop motor, three (3) thumb screws (with no loss locking bolts) are easy to loosen and easy cleaning of chipper disk. This is NO TOY! Made of very heavy gauge steel and very well constructed. No need to buy special bags for chips, just use lawn bag with draw strings and the supplied band and never miss a chip. What might have been a couple of truck loads of tree limbs turns into three sack of chips. Great machine!
Stalls out too frequently September 7, 2008 This chipper/schredder is good for home use. The dual ability to schred both branches and clippings/leaves is great. The only problem is that the safety power cut-off happens too easily, especially if the materials are wet. I really do not have a problem with the cut-off, but it is a real hassel to reset the motor. You have to remove the top piece which requires you to unscrew three screws. This may not seem bad, but on the 6th or 7th time it really gets annoying.
Even with this said, I would still recommend this product.
Functions well as advertised, September 3, 2008 This chipper shredder is perfect for garden debris, weeds, pruning clippings and hedge clippings. Although it is heavy to lift, it moves well on it's wheels. It will jam if you try to feed it too much at once. The restart button pops & easy to push the clog through. The shredded weeds & garden clippings compost nicely, and the chips are good for mulch and garden paths. It is best to let prunings dry for a few days before trying to feed them through the shredder.
Chipper Chopper Chewer August 2, 2008 -This is a good little machine for your small to medium backyard jobs. -Went together very easily with no structural OR wiring problems. -Started up easily.
I tried it on a number of different types of backyeard waste: walnut tree, maple tree, cherry tree, lilac, spruce and it chewed them all up well. Then I tried some snow pea plants that were done for the season. It jammed up right away. They are too, too wet and would not clear out of the grinding area or the chute. Not a problem. Let them dry out for a few days.
The bunji cord that was provided isn't stout enough to keep a plastic bag on the chute. Spend $1.99 on a 24" bunji to do this. Also, use a clear plastic bag on the chute so you can see if the pile is starting to block the debris exit.
This sucker weighs 87 pounds (191 kg) and moves around on the wheels quite easily.
Over all, four stars due to the jamming so easily of the chute.
