5 out of 5 stars Just keeps getting better with time!   November 12, 2008

I've been listening to all my Partridge Family CDs a lot lately since the recent release of the final album "Bulletin Board". "Shopping Bag" seems to be the one I enjoy the most at this time. Although it didn't produce any Top 10 hits, it's not the music that's at fault, it seems that bad choices were made at the record company. This album is very uplifting and makes you want to sing-a-long with David Cassidy. "Girl, you make my day" is one of my favorites and it starts the album off great. I love the harpsicord on it. "Every little bit of you" is better than i remembered it and is now one of my favorites. "Am I losing you" has a funky guitar opening that sounds great, although it didn't climb the charts as it should have. "Last night" is a great pop song. "Hello, Hello" is really the only song that isn't classic Partridge Family. It has a strange opening sound and it's a little too long and boring for my taste. All in all, this album should be purchased by all fans of 70's pop. It should put a smile on your face if you listen with an open mind and heart. David Cassidy deserves a lot of credit for his contribution to all these overlooked, classic songs that never were taken too seriously by the general public. I was only 2 years old when this was originally released in 1972. I became a big fan of the Partridge Family/David Cassidy in my early twenties (1990's). So, it's never too late to enjoy the sounds from the past. These songs have really grown on me and I can appreciate them more as I get older and wiser. Even if you have to listen to them in private (guilty pleasures!) don't let that stop you from enjoying yourself.

3 out of 5 stars From the early days of music on TV b4 MTV   October 14, 2008
Oh man, this CD reissue along with the other Partridge Family reissues on CD takes me back to when I was a child. I was but a mere 5 when they premiered on TV, however we lived in Germany at the time, so I had to watch them in German, however they sung in English(kinda messes with a kid's mind). But it was one of my favorite shows growing up, I wanted to be Danny, my sister wanted to date David Cassidy, ahhh memories....

Now onto the music....even though it is not the greatest music in the world, most of the music that came from TV during that period was meant to sell the show. From the mid 60's to mid 70's all it was about was rock'n'roll on Saturday mornings. And we liked it, when albums or singles were released from the show, we would spend our allowances or money made from babysitting, or other odd jobs to purchase them. Music doesn't have to be serious, sometimes it can be fun and mindless as well, something for us to kick back with. Also(pay attention A CUSTOMER, your getting schooled)some of the most prolific singers and songwriters wrote and performed the music on these shows. With the Partridge Family, Wendy and Lisa(from Prince and The Revolution)sat in on the sessions while their fathers were studio musicians on the Partridge's albums, their writing and production techniques came from this. Wes Farrell was a renowned songwirter and producer as well. To A CUSTOMER and others who doubt the validity of this music, check up on who wrote, produced and performed the music, you would be surprised....
And one final comment on the CD reissue, I hate it, it doesnt come with a shopping bag like the album(remember folks?). ALso a word of advice, DON'T set your vinyl in front of a central air vent during the dead of winter, I've been having to replace my albums over the years.

4 out of 5 stars Lots of Fun from The Partridge Family   September 25, 2008

I am 47 and I grew up with this music. I loved these Partridge Family albums as a young teenager and to have them on cd is a great gift. Even though the cast members didn't really sing other than David Cassidy and Shirley Jones the music is excellent pop/bubble gum.

The four stars I am giving this cd is based on the genre and it is not basing it in comparison to other real music. Now back to the Partridge Family. Their earlier albums did have stronger songs and a certain more mature pop sound to them. Starting with this album the quality of songs did diminish a little but I still find this one a true pleasure from beginning to end. Granted there weren't as many "hits" on it but songs put on greatest hits collections are chosen by the producers of the compilations and don't necessarily represent the best work.

David Cassidy is always reliable to do a great job on each track. My favorites on this cd are EVERY LITTLE BIT O' YOU, AM I LOSING YOU, IT'S ALL IN YOUR MIND, HELLO HELLO and EVERY SONG IS YOU. As you can see this is a great portion of the cd.

I must admit that playing this music isn't just reliving my youth and that I really enjoy the music. As I said, this cd is a little more bubble gum and lacks a certain maturity the earlier albums had but it is a definite feel good cd. When I play it I find myself singing along in high spirits and repeating the cd over and over. And isn't that what music is supposed to do?

Need to mention that the remastering is superb. Highly recommend.

5 out of 5 stars Fun Album!   July 27, 2005
There are fun songs and great harmonies on this Family offering! Best cuts are "Am I Losing You", "If You Ever Go", "There'll Come A Time", "Every Song Is You" and "It's One of Those Nights" (Yes Love), which was a #20 Billboard hit.
The cover art has lots of color and charm. Get a copy!

4 out of 5 stars Great songs for any Partridge Family fan!   March 6, 2003

I loved this album so much that I still have it after 31 years! I used to sing the songs from this album for anyone who cared to listen when I was a kid. "Girl You make my day" is a great song, and I especially love "Hello Hello." "There'll come a time" is also a good one, and "Am I losing you." If this is a lousy album like others are saying, then why is this one priced at close to $... when the others are selling for $... $...? The GReatest Hits album (with the house on the cover) is also great, as is all their albums! I collect memorabilia and the Greatest Hits album is hanging up on the wall in my house! I'm a true fan of David's!
